
About the School
There are 33 Sainik Schools in India, at present, broadly one in each state. These are fully residential premier institutions, administrated by the Sainik School Society, Ministry of Defence.

These schools were established in the 1960s, as the initiative of Late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the nation’s first prime minister. These are English Medium Schools affiliated with CBSE. Admission is on the basis of an All India Written Exam and a medical test.

These schools have excelled in their primary role as feeder institution to the Armed Forces and have over 15000 officers to their credit as officers in the Armed Forces. A large number of alumni are IAS, IPS officers, Doctors, and Engineers serving all over the country and abroad.

Who can Apply for the January 2025 Exam?
For Class 6 : Boys and girls between 10 to 12 years of age, as on 31st March 2025. Born between 1st April 2013 to 31st March 2015.

For Class 9 : Boys who are in class 8th or 9th between 13 to 15 years of age, as on 31st March 2025. Born between 1st April 2010 to 31st March 2012.

- Now girls can apply to all 33 Sainik Schools in India in class 6, wef year 2020.
- NTA, the reputed government agency now conducts the admission test for Sainik Schools, wef year 2020.
AISSEE SYLLABUS
AISSEE is conducted once a year, on the first Sunday of January, for admission to class 6 and class 9 for its 33 schools. These exams are now conducted by National Testing Agency. Test duration 2 & ½ hours ( 150 minutes) for class 6 and 3 hours (180 minutes) for 9 hours.
